Barnwright vs others

An honest comparison, with the sources.

The subscription platforms for this trade are good software, and for some businesses they are the right call. This page puts the real prices and the real differences side by side so you can decide, and it says plainly where they win.

Every competitor figure below was read from the vendor’s own public pricing page on September 23, 2026. Prices change; check the links before you decide.

Coming soon

Where this page shows the full Barnwright software at $500 a month, that plan is coming soon. Ready today: the 3D Designer and Dealer Center, $0 setup and $250 a month.

The short version

They rent you their way of working. We build yours.

A subscription is fast to start and gets better for everyone at once. A custom build costs more up front, does exactly your job, and never charges you for growing. The rest of this page is the detail behind that sentence.

Pick a subscription if…

  • You need to be live next week and your process is close enough to average.
  • You want a big user community and a vendor with a large support team.
  • Your manufacturer already runs one and you need to plug into it.

Pick a Barnwright build if…

  • You have a way of working that a packaged tool keeps fighting.
  • You are tired of the bill growing every time you add a person or sell more.
  • You want one system, one maker, and the person who built it on the phone.

Either way, know this

We only compare against what a vendor publishes. Where we could not verify a number, we say so. And we would rather you picked the right tool than picked us and regretted it — which is also why our guarantee exists.

If we do custom work for you and you don’t like it, you get your money back.

Side by side

What you pay, and what you get.

Published prices as of September 23, 2026. “Sales-based” means the monthly fee rises with your annual sales. Barnwright figures are our own fixed prices from this site.

Where they genuinely win

We would be lying if we said they don’t.

Speed. Shed Suite says “launch in days”, and it is true. A custom build takes weeks for one tool and longer for a whole system, because it is being built for you.

Scale and track record. Shed Suite reports 2,800 businesses and hundreds of thousands of sheds. We are one shop, and Barnwright runs at one business every day. That is proof it works; it is not a crowd.

The polish of a dedicated configurator. ShedPro’s 3D models are very good, and owners praise its service. Ours draws the building, prices it off your sheet and writes the order; it is not trying to be a showroom.

A big team. A platform has a support department. You get the person who built your software, which is better until the day he is on a delivery.

Where a build wins

The things a platform cannot offer.

It is your process. Not a configuration of theirs. The screen your painter opens has three colors and a button, because that is the painter’s job.

The bill does not grow. No per-user fee. No service fee tied to your sales. A $3M business and a $10M business pay the same fixed monthly figure from their quote.

One maker for the designer and the price sheet. Change a price once and the 3D designer, the quote and the invoice all say the new number. Two companies cannot promise you that.

Money back on custom work. If we build it and you don’t like it, you get your money back. We could not find a subscription that says that.

A worked example

Three years, for a shed business doing $3M a year.

Say you sell $3M of buildings a year, you want a 3D designer on your website, and you need the office, the shop and the drivers on one system. Here is what the published prices add up to over three years. Numbers rounded to the dollar; your own quotes will differ.

Shed Suite + ShedPro configurator: setup $2,000 + $4,495; monthly $300 + $1,250 service fee + $595 = $2,145. Barnwright: the full software with its 3D designer (coming soon), no build fee and $500 a month.

Three-year cost of software

Shed Suite + ShedPro, setup$6,495
36 months × $2,145$77,220
Subscription total, three years$83,715
Barnwright build fee$0
36 months × $500$18,000
Barnwright total, three years$18,000

Software subscription costs only; not a calculation or guarantee of total business savings. Confirm current pricing and scope with each provider. Shed Suite’s setup fee is waived on annual billing, which lowers its total by $2,000.

Fair questions.

Is this comparison fair to the other companies?

We tried to make it so. Every number comes from the vendor’s own public page and is dated. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say “unpublished” rather than guessing. Where they are better, we say so above. If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Why is there no build fee when custom software usually costs so much?

Custom software normally costs $15,000 to $100,000 and up because it is written from nothing. Barnwright already exists and runs every day at a real shed business. A build for you reuses those proven parts and shapes them to your process, so there is nothing to invent and nothing to charge up front.

I already use Shed Suite. Can you work with it?

Yes. Yoder’s reply assistant hands customer details into the quote system Yoder already pays for. A build does not have to replace what you have; it can sit around it and take the retyping away.

What if you are not around in five years?

Your software runs on accounts in your name, and your records are backed up nightly to a file you can download. If our servers went dark tomorrow your software would keep working as it was. That is a design decision, not a promise.

Decide with the real numbers.

Tell us what you run today and what it costs you. We will tell you honestly whether a build makes sense, and give you a fixed price if it does.
